AV Technical Team Leader

Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience

                      

We are currently recruiting an AV Technical Team Leader to join our amazing team at dotdotdot, as we launch our newest production, Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience; a layered reality multi-sensory adventure set across a vast 22,000sqft setting, combining Jeff Wayne’s music, immersive theatre, virtual reality, augmented reality, holograms and more!

 

Position Summary

The AV Technical Team Leader is a vital role to ensure that we deliver this cutting-edge experience at the optimal level to all guests. On a daily basis, the Technical department work as a team to implement planned and reactive maintenance throughout the experience, ensuring the day-to-day operation is running smoothly, safely, and efficiently.  During live show periods the technical department operate the master show control system, which triggers all aspects from opening of doors allowing people to move around, to more traditional technologies such and lighting, sound and AV. During this time they are also responsible to information flow about elements of the show to both cast and crew so good communication skills are key. 

 

Scope and Responsibilities

Working as Technical Team Leader you will be responsible for looking after the day-to-day running of the department, scheduling time for maintenance, along with ensuring all staff have the required training for their role. Liaising with both the Wardot General manager and Ellipsis Technical Director about any problems that arise or where help is needed, along with ensuring that the site is safe for all staff and visitors. You will further be responsible for the safe operation of all show elements, including lighting, sound, video projection, pyro and automation around the venue.

 

Additional responsibilities include the ability to troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise, sometimes independently and at speed during live show operations. You must be confident presenting ideas both verbally, and through written documentation.

 

Background and Experience

You will be a highly self-motivated individual who can lead a team, preferably with previous experience in immersive theatre productions, demonstrating knowledge in the use of most technical disciplines including Audio, Video, Lighting, timecode, Dante, and QLab operation. Experience with the application of virtual reality technology is preferred. Full training will be given.

 

Education

Technical theatre education is desirable.

 

Other Requirements

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours (regardless of length), on a 5 day on, 2 day off basis. This includes evenings, weekends and some holidays to support operations.

  • Strong problem solving skills and a dedication to providing outstanding customer service.

  • The ability to remain calm under pressure.
